England U17 Women 1999 North Sea Cup Aberdeen Sept 2016 Team

The England 1999 women are competing against the senior Scotland, Ireland and Wales teams in the North Sea Cup this weekend at the Aberdeen Sports Village, Scotland.

Head Coach Ian MacCallum is pleased with the opportunity to start the 2016/17 season with a tournament.

“It’s good to get everyone back together and to start the building process that will take the players through to the U19 European Championships in 2018,” said Ian.

“In Aberdeen, we will be a junior team playing against senior national teams, so it’s a great opportunity to test our players in a challenging environment.

“While results matter, it’s more important for the coaching staff to assess the development of all the players as we make plans for the future.”

Some background information about the GB 99s, who will be competing in the U19 European Junior Championships in 2018: the squad started this campaign in late 2015 with a series of training weekends followed by participation in the EU Nations Cup in Denmark in April 2016. The team won bronze in that competition and are starting the 2016/17 campaign with the North Sea Cup which takes place in Aberdeen, Scotland on 10/11 September.

The squad consists of 15 players who will all get playing time throughout the tournament.
